An empty kitchen early in the morning: a pale limestone counter, pans hanging from a rail, soft light from a tall window and a bowl of lemons

About

About FACET

FACET is an online shop for the United States: a few good pans, the pot and lids that go with them, and the boards, bowls and tools around the stove.

The name

A facet is one small, flat face of a cut surface. Our pans carry hundreds of them: a fine honeycomb texture across the cooking surface. Each facet catches the light at its own angle, so a pan left on the counter in the morning throws the window back in small points of light.

Few pieces, used every day

We kept the shop small on purpose. Each of the 15 things here does a job you do in an ordinary week of cooking: searing, tossing, simmering, chopping, mixing, sharpening, cleaning up. If we could not say what a piece is for on a Tuesday evening, it did not make the cut.

A limestone counter from above: the Rolling Sharpener beside a chef's knife, the Walnut Board with chopped parsley and sliced shallots, the Everyday Pan with seared vegetables, the Coil Scrubbers in a small ceramic dish

How we chose them

We looked for shapes that do one job clearly: walls that slope so a spatula gets under an egg, high walls that hold a sauce, two loop handles for a pan that goes to the table, a flat base for a wok, a very low rim for a crêpe. Then the things that go around them: a metal board for wet work and a walnut one for the knife, bowls that nest, wood that is kind to the pans, a sharpener for the knife and a scrubber for the end of the evening.

One version, one price

Each piece comes in one version, at one price. The Pan Trio, the Mixing Bowls and the Wood Utensils are sold as one product each, the way the maker makes them. The only choice on the site is the size of the Glass Lid, so it fits the pan you own.

What we say, and what we leave out

We describe what you can see and use: the shapes, the finishes, how to cook with each piece and how to look after it. Materials are given as the maker describes them, and our Materials & Chemicals page lists what we are still confirming in writing. Cooktops, oven and dishwasher use, weights, capacities and the chemical declaration appear only once the maker confirms them in writing.

How we sell

Shipping and import duties are included in every price. Orders ship with tracking to the 50 US states and Washington, D.C.: allow about 8 to 15 business days from order confirmation. Unused items can come back within 30 days of delivery; anything used for cooking or food, and opened Coil Scrubbers, come back only if defective, damaged or wrong. The details are on our shipping and returns pages.

Safety, plainly

Every product page has a safety panel, and our Care & Safety page brings them together: heat and handles, glass lids, knives and the sharpener, boards and raw meat, wood care and steel wool.
